In the Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco, in the heart of Sacramento Street—the city’s premier design corridor—an Edwardian that dates back to 1906 is now home to the Jessie Black boutique. Step inside to discover a refined and creative world, reminiscent of spending time in an old friend’s apartment.
It is a world where you are encouraged to touch the merchandise and appreciate the aesthetic as well as tactile qualities; to draw the curtains that delineate the boudoir in the back and try on apparel as you might at home (yes, you can even toss the clothing on the bed afterwards); or, for an idyllic urban respite, to enjoy a cup of tea in the heated secret garden.
Our friendly team would just as happily put a kettle on for you as they would impart the narrative behind the clothing, accessories and home objects that fill the boutique. “Each piece has a story, whether it’s the way it’s made, its history or its unique materials,” says proprietor Jessie Black.
The boutique carries the work of skilled artisans from all over the world, including France, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, Colombia and Jessie’s native Australia. Jessie personally visits many of the ateliers and facilities to ensure that all goods meet her high standards, and are produced in a sustainable and kind manner.
We hope to see you soon! In the meantime, you can browse and purchase some of our favorite pieces online.
